Excellent how-to
2005-08-03 10:25:12 armiller [Reply | View]
This is a fast-paced and humorous "how to" on using Spotlight; excellent. I listened to it while waiting for the bus and learned some handy tips. (Command-spacebar rules!)
We want more Pogue Podcasts!

Works in iTunes, but ...
2005-08-03 00:17:56 gslusher [Reply | View]
The podcast works just fine in iTunes 4.9. However, the description as shown in iTunes includes the HTML for an image. That really screws things up. It does show in iPodderX. You might want to put the image AFTER the text, so that the text shows in iTunes.

I found it useful to follow along as David was speaking. This was a better experience than I expected, really. command-spacebar is now successfully burned in. Thanks, David! More please!

Podcast Feed Fixed
2005-07-28 10:12:11 Justin Watt | [Reply | View]
A backend update yesterday afternoon (July 27) borked the podcast feed until this morning (July 28). It should be operational again now.
Also note this beta podcast feed:
http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/feed/32?format=rss2
...is a podcast feed in the strictest sense. We're including enclosure metadata in each feed item so that your Podcatching application can automatically download the audio content. We have not implemented the new itunes-specific metadata tags.
Please comment here if you continue to have problems with the feed. Thanks.

iTunes isn't a go

I tried copy/pasting the feed URL, dragging it, and searching the podcast directory/clicking subscribe, but iTunes has repeatedly flagged it as an invalid podcast feed url. I'll listen to the podcast, but I'd really like to add the feed to iTunes.

Podcast Inaccessable for the Deaf

Gee . . . I'm not going to be able to take advantage of this podcast because I'm deaf. :-( This podcast trend is irritating.

Copy URL from the linked text "O'Reilly Network Podcast" above (the URL is http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/feed/32?format=rss2 ), go to iTunes, choose "Subscribe to Podcast" from the "Advanced" menu, and paste the URL into the dialog.

I found the information important and well-presented, but felt I'd like to listen to it later. Alas, I couldn't stop the podcast. I searched for a player window of some kind on my desktop to no avail.
Why not have a stop button on the page for us neophytes.
Otherwise thank you for your work. BTW I own your Mac OS "missing" manual.
